Luli Fama Swimwear: Designer Bio
Lourdes Hanimian and Augusto Hanimian, Luli Fama swimwear
Born in Cuba, and raised in Miami, Florida, Lourdes “Luli” Hanimian has always had a strong desire to become an innovator in the fashion industry. Growing up with the beaches of Miami at her doorstep, it is not surprising that Luli developed a keen interest in swimwear. Luli and her brother-in-law Augusto Hanimian are the creative forces behind Luli Fama Swimwear. They met in 1990 while both were working for Augusto’s aunt, a noted swimsuit designer. Together the two gained practical experience in the fashion and swimwear markets. In 1993, they launched their first company, debuting with Cover Style, a junior swim line. In 2003, Luli Fama Swimwear was born.
Earning acclaim as well as a devoted following of consumers and celebrities, Luli Fama became known for its universally flattering fit and immaculate designs. Luli Fama incorporates an eclectic mix of color palettes and textures, resulting in a unique look that is at once sophisticated, festive, and charmingly girly. Artfully places embellishments, such as faceted glass beads, creates a perfect balance on streamlined silhouettes.
The assortment of exclusive prices, including monokinis, bikinis, cover-ups and dresses, are made from light fabrics and enhanced exceptional details tailored to accentuate a woman’s figure. Luli Fama is ideal for fashion-forward women who love sunlit summers and nights full of energy. Every collection reflects a new thought process and design concept. Luli and Augusto are inspired by a variety of factors, including Luli’s Cuban descent and Miami upbringing. The cosmopolitan culture and Latin influence in Luli Fama Swimwear are apparent in the contemporary shapes, intense colors and fusion of innocence and seductiveness.
Originality is a fundamental component as Luli Fama understands the importance of a target customer and abides to her personal philosophy, "You can’t be everything to everybody. You have to have a niche and stay true to your consumer by providing a look in the highest quality possible."
"And the name Luli Fama? Luli has always been my nickname, for Lourdes,” says Hanimian, “and Fama means fame in Spanish. It was a joke from my husband that I always wanted to be famous, so he thought Luli Fama would be perfect name for the line.” Judging from celebrities such as supermodel Bar Rafaeli asking for Luli Fama by name while shopping recently, once could say that Luli Fama has indeed achieved fame and success
