How To Start 2015 On A Good Note

The festivities have wound down, the champagne glasses have been stowed away and the sequin dresses will not make an appearance for the next eleven months. 2015 is finally upon us, and as Oprah once said, "Cheers to a new year and another chance for us to get it right." We know that January can be an intimidating month, with resolutions to live up to, fitness regimes to fulfill and big dreams to chase, but a few simple tips will ensure that you kick this year off on the right note:

Carve Out Me-Time

If there is one thing you must do for yourself this year, let it be the ritual of carving out some quality time to spend with yourself every week. Use this time to journal, to take a long walk in the park, to listen to your favorite music, to plan your next vacation or tomediate. Whatever you choose to do, remember that this time is to be shared with no one else. Switch off your cell phone, shut your laptop and justbe.

Be More Active

Rigorous workouts may not be for everyone, but someone wise once said that "If you stop moving, you stop living." Start today and start right now. If an intense regime is not your cup of tea, take your dog for a walk and play a game of fetch, or switch on the radio and dance your heart out to whatever is playing. However you choose to break into a sweat, make it a point to exercise for at least thirty minutes each day. This habit will be one of the greatest gifts you will present to yourself in 2015.

The beauty of a new year is that it allows you to leave the past behind and start all over again, refreshed and re-energized. In order to make the best of this fresh start, it is absolutely critical that you rid yourself of any grudges you may be holding on to. Banish the demons from your past. Forgive that boy who broke your heart ( for tips on how-to, read our How To Survive A Break-up Guide). Forgive the girl who bullied you in high school. Forgive yourself for what you have said and what you have not said; for what you have done and what you have not done. You will find yourself feeling lighter, happier and ready to take the world by a storm.

Above all, focus on soaking up all of the positivity that the universe has to offer. Remember, good vibes only!
