Liliana Villalobos, Aguaclara Swimwear
Born in Lima Peru, on January 17, 1964. The youngest of six siblings –four brothers and one sister. During school years she lived in Lima-Peru, Rio de Janeiro-Brazil, and Cuzco–Peru until 1980.
A very active, sports-loving person. Stood out as a gymnast as a child and represented Peru at international rowing competitions.
After finishing high school, she studied Art Courses at the University of Lima. Then, restless as she was, she moved to Miami, USA to have a taste of the tress at a couple of restaurants and then as a car insurance sales person. Living in a foreign country opened her mind to new risks and gave her the experience that only one can acquire through living.
In 1988 with 23 years old, she returned to Lima, Peru with some sewing machine heads — machinery imports were banned at that time —, and lots of ideas. She went into partnership with her brother Jorge Villalobos — current Director of Applauzi Peru and Applauzi International Corp USA — to found Applauzi S.A. (bathing suits manufacturing). From the beginning, Liliana has been in charge of designing the beachwear, underwear.
In 1993, she married Fernando Almaraz Grandchant and is now mother to three children: Josefina (10 years old), Fernanda (8 years old), and Mauricio (5 years old).
At present she is the Director of the Tailoring Committee of the National Industrial Association (SNI) and, gives lectures on tendencies to the different bodies in the line of business.
Liliana is always on the move, traveling, in pursue of new things and looking into future tendencies. Her designs are influenced by the riches of the Amazon and its ethnics, the Andes and the Ocean and many other exotic & sophisticated places around the world, with its animals and colors.
More than twenty years ago, in 1989, the Villalobos siblings, Jorge and Liliana, founded Aguaclara Swimwear, in Lima, Peru. This singular two, started with enthusiasm and vision a rather small tailor-made swimwear manufacturing workshop, a very personalized job. In only a short time, Aguaclara becomes very popular within the local market and grows until becoming the leader brand that it is today.
Creative Director Liliana, has shaped with her talent the spirit of the brand, which main characteristic is the ethnic tendency, rooted in the Amazon and Andean influence. Restless traveler, ever looking for new trends and state-of-the-art technology. Executive Director, Jorge handles the Administrative and Strategic Planning areas.
Aguaclara Collections by Liliana Villalobos, are exhibited at the most important trade shows in the world. Her one of a kind pieces are made with highly elaborate embroidery, exclusively developed prints for the brand, hand made natural accessories specially designed for the garments, which provide the outstanding brand's touch, managing a unique style, an exotic feminine sensation.
Aguaclara, official Miss England swimwear, is also the cover of such magazines as Ocean Drive and Las Vegas Magazine. Its collections are published in the world-renowned magazine editorials, such as Collezione Beachwear and Diva, among others.
Always in the forefront, Aguaclara is the leader company in the swimwear business in Peru. Produces more than 15,000 pieces a month, provides job positions for more than 300 people and has 7 stores in the country.
