Once we were done eyeing our girl crushes and their stunning red carpet looks, we switched out attention to the men. After all, it wasn’t only the glamorous gowns which caught our eye at the 86th Academy Awards, and with good reason too. Here’s our round up of the best dressed hunks at the Oscars this year:
Jared Leto’s red carpet look was an interesting one. We are totally sold on his outfit from the waist up – the combination of cream and red is a classic one, and not enough men sport it. We are not really sure what is going on with the bottom half though. While monochrome is a huge trend, this sudden switch from the cream jacket to black trousers is jarring to the eyes, at the very least. Ah, well, the man gets a pat on the back for trying. Although, what was up with your acceptance speech?
Joseph Gordon Levitt is one of the classiest men in Hollywood, and he proved it yet again at the Oscars. In a sharp tux by Calvin Klein, and Johnston & Murphy shoes, he had our eyes clouding over with tiny hearts. We might have liked it a little more if his pants were a tad bit longer though, but no worries! With a red pin button to add a unique element of quirk, Mr. Levitt’s red carpet ensemble was spot-on.
Have no doubt about it: Chiwetel Ejiofor knows how to wear a tux and rock it with style. When everyone is wearing the same thing, in this case, a penguin suit, standing out is all about attention to detail. That is why we are digging his minimalistic ensemble with slim lapels, perfectly creased pants and the Mont Blanc watch which adds just the detail we are talking about. Boyfriends, learn!
Leave it to Kevin Spacey to break the norm and ditch the classic black tux for a slightly brighter midnight blue version. We are so glad he did it though, because the blue tux by Burberry with black lapels and black bow tie to boot showed that the man knows his style and isn’t afraid to experiment with it. A rare quality in the male species, you will agree. Good going, Mr. Spacey!
Leonardo DiCaprio looked every bit the dapper Wall Street tycoon in a well fitted tux by Giorgio Armani, his go-to red carpet designer. We love this classic look, but of course, we wouldn’t expect anything less from him anyway. While he didn’t go home with any golden Oscars, he totally won the red carpet in our minds. Oh, and Leo? You should definitely sport a pocket square more often. Drool-worthy.
