Oscars 2014: The Best Dressed Ladies

oscars2014

So the Oscars have come and gone, and we are sure that you know the drill by now. It is time to play Anna Wintour (or as close as we can get) and round up our favourite red carpet looks from the Hollywood event of the year. Here’s our list of the top five divas who made our heart burst with joy (and a little bit of envy) this year:

Five

37. Sandra

Nobody does red carpet glamour better than Sandra Bullock, and she reminded us of this when she showed up at the 86th Academy Awards in a beautiful strapless creation by Alexander McQueen. The deep navy blue hue of her gown reminded us of the midnight sky, and the delicate draped texture was just the right amount of dress dramatics for this elegant lady. We love that she chose to keep the accessories to a minimum and paint her nails to match the dress. Lovely!

Four

37. Charlize Theron

Like they say, black is the new black – just ask Charlize Theron. She owned the red carpet in a stunning black creation by Dior which took our breath away. Everything about this look was perfect – the plunging V-neck, the dramatic skirt, and of course, that sparkly Harry Winston piece which accentuated her neck. Sean Penn must have been a proud, proud man.

Three

37. Lupita

When it comes to fashion, Lupita Nyong’O clearly knows her stuff. Her frosty pure white gown by Prada looked stunning against her skin tone, and we were totally digging the plunging V-neck as well. The lady clearly knows that less is more so she let the textures of her dress do the talking, with the box pleats and flowing skirt. Along with winning Best Supporting Actress for her role in 12 Years A Slave, Lupita also won our hearts forever.

Two

37. Cate Blanchett

If we had to pick one style icon who oozes timeless elegance like no other, it would have to be Cate Blanchett. Her beautiful Armani gown got the mix of sparkle and subtle just right. Although she wore a muted shade of nude, she looked every bit the diva as her gown glittered under the lights when she stepped up to stage to collect her Oscar for Best Actress in the mind blowing film, Blue Jasmine. Cate never ceases to surprise us with her red carpet looks so we can’t wait to see what she chooses next year!

One

37. J Law

As always, we had to save the best for last. Despite her minor stumble on the red carpet, which she handled with the utmost of grace yet again, Jennifer Lawrence caused everyone’s jaw to drop in a stunning strapless gown by Dior. Our favourite Hunger Games star scores extra brownie points for rocking the sizzling hot red trend like a true superstar. From her elegant up-do to the gorgeous necklace which adorned her neck, everything about her Oscar’s ensemble exuded sophistication and elegance. Nailed it, Miss Lawrence!
