Nautical loving, ahoy!

Ahoy, captain! We have taken a cue from the men at sea and are currently craving some fun nautical designer swimwear to add to our collection. The nautical theme has a very laid back, sophisticated European feel which will never go out of style. It adds a sense of elegance and is always perfectly on-trend. See our absolute favorite bikinis, one-pieces and coverups to go with your nautical theme.

For small chested girls, horizontal stripes are the best buy because they create the illusion of volume and a bigger chest. Most girls shy away from nautical prints for fear of looking like they have donned a costume, but if you wear nautical prints the right way, you will look super cute and never want to take your designer swimwear off! You really can’t go wrong. This Lady Lux fixed triangle bikini has added some extra oomph to the nautical team with it’s leather buckle hardware at center bust and gold ring hardware.

Stripes do not necessarily have to be horizontal. If you want to suck that stomach in, opt for pieces with vertical or diagonal stripes which create a slimming effect and are super chic. You could even opt for a piece which combines colour blocking with stripes if you don’t feel like going all out. Jets swimwear, has a variety of nautical themed swimwear, see them here.

Remember to keep it simple when you are rocking the nautical theme, because the print makes a powerful style statement on its own. Stay far away from other printed pieces such as tribal print kaftans or busy dresses, which will take away from your glorious swimwear and make your look messy. Above, you’ll find the coastline, sweetheart bustier bikini from Seafolly.

Why not opt for a true blue one-piece like Indigo from PilyQ swimwear, and add some nautical jewellery to complete your look.

We love to wear our sexy striped pieces with long flowy skirts, as the nautical vibe adds a classy touch to an otherwise casual outfit. White crochet or lace skirts are the perfect beach cover up when the sea breeze gets chilly. When paired with a flirty bikini or one piece, you have the perfect combination of sassy and edgy! This Agua Bendita skirt has it all wrapped up in a perfect little number for us.

If you are going for a more put-together look (for example, a honeymoon beach outfit or a crazy pool party), throw on a sheer kaftan or a  crochet dress in a single simple colour – our code says white for the day time, blue for the evening and black for the night, but you can mix it up as you please. Rock the beaches in this Saha poncho with the trendy fringe at the bottom. Or go with our favorite silk blue romper from L Space.

Finally, whether it is day or night, do not forget to accessorize! Make your neck look longer with a chunky gold necklace which will draw attention to your upper half, or add some sparkle with an arm full of exotic bangles which will make a beautiful sound as you move.

If you really want to take the nautical theme seriously, look for some cute jewellery or shoes with anchors and other sea motifs! Swipe on a bright red or pink lipstick for striking contrast (please ensure that it is waterproof beforehand!) If you want to sweep your hair out of your face, why not tie it back with a cute anchor scarf which complements your swimwear? Practical and pretty!
