Summer is all about bringing out the sexy bikinis and working on that glorious, sun kissed tan of yours. But how do your remove those pesky tan lines when you go slightly OTT with sunbathing?
Scrub, scrub, scrub!
Every girl should have a good body scrub in her cabinet. Exfoliation gets rid of the dry skin cells on the top layers of your skin, including the unsightly tanned cells. Scrubbing will help to lighten your skin and accelerate the fading process. When exfoliating, work the scrub onto your skin in delicate circular motions – most people make the mistake of scrubbing too aggressively which does more harm than good. Finish up with some deep nourishing moisturizer – make sure it has Vitamin E, which will make the fading process even faster.
Did you know that one of the most effective remedies for tan lines is sitting in your kitchen at this very moment? That’s right! Not only does baking soda cool your skin; it also helps the tan lines to fade quickly. Mix one tea spoon of baking soda with two cups of water and apply it to your skin for fifteen minutes. Repeat this process daily until your skin returns to its natural tone. For better results, follow up by applying coconut or olive oil to tanned areas and leave it overnight so that the oils soak into your skin. Wash them off the next day as usual.
Lemon is definitely the holy grail of fruits because it can be used for so many things. Most citrus fruits have lightening properties and are often used in face packs to help even out the skin tone, but what most people don’t know is that they are extremely helpful in getting rid of your unwanted farmer’s tan. All you have to do is cut a small lemon in half and squeeze the skin all over the tanned areas before a shower. This works two ways: the acid will help to lighten the darker areas and the texture of the lemon will act as an exfoliator. Works like a charm!
